Accessibility

What Koleini Private Barber Studio has done to make this site usable for everyone, what has not been tested, and how to reach us if the site gets in your way.

Version 1.0 · Effective 1 August 2026

01Our commitment

We want this site to work for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, need larger text, or prefer reduced motion. Where it does not, we want to hear about it and fix it.

02Conformance status

Partially conformant — WCAG 2.1 Level AA

“Partially conformant” means most of the site meets the standard, but we have not had an independent audit, so we are not claiming full conformance. Saying otherwise without an audit behind it would itself be misleading.

The measures below were built into the site from the start and were checked during development. They were not verified by a third-party accessibility auditor.

03What we have done

  • Every form field has a real, visible label tied to its input, and every error message is announced to assistive technology and linked to the field it belongs to.
  • Colour contrast for body text was measured — not estimated — against the actual background in both the light and dark themes, and meets or exceeds 4.5:1.
  • The site has a light theme and a dark theme. It follows your operating system preference and remembers a manual choice.
  • Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring. Nothing is reachable by mouse only.
  • Gallery clips play automatically, silently and on a loop, with no control to operate. If your system asks for reduced motion, they do not play at all and the still frame is shown instead — that is the pause mechanism.
  • A "skip to content" link is the first thing keyboard focus reaches.
  • Movement respects prefers-reduced-motion: scroll reveals and clip autoplay are switched off when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Content does not depend on JavaScript to be readable. With JavaScript disabled, every revealed section is visible and no content is hidden.
  • Every video clip has a text description, and the decorative showreel is hidden from assistive technology rather than being announced as meaningless content.
  • Tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels, and form inputs are 16 pixels on small screens so iOS does not zoom when you focus them.
  • The page declares its language as Australian English, and headings are in a logical order.
  • Opening hours are a real table with row headers, not a grid of divs.

04Known limitations

Being honest about what has not been done is part of the point of this page:

  • The site has not been tested with hardware screen readers by people who use them daily. Testing was done with browser tooling and keyboard navigation.
  • There has been no independent accessibility audit.
  • The studio clips have no captions or audio description. They are short, silent-by-default demonstrations of haircuts, and each has a text description — but that is not the same as a caption track.
  • Bookings are handled on a third-party platform (Trybe) whose accessibility we do not control and have not assessed. If it gets in your way, ring or email us and we will book you in ourselves.
  • The site has not been tested with voice-control software or switch access devices.

05If this site does not work for you

There is a non-digital way to do everything on this site. Ring or email, and you will be booked in exactly the same way — no disadvantage, no different price, no fuss.

We aim to answer within two business days. Tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way — that is more useful to us than a standard’s reference number.

06Your rights

The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) makes it unlawful to discriminate against a person on the basis of disability in the provision of goods, services and facilities, which includes websites.

If you believe you have been discriminated against, you can make a complaint to the Australian Human Rights Commission at humanrights.gov.au or on 1300 656 419. We would rather you told us first so we can fix it, but that is your choice, not a precondition.

07Scope and preparation

  • Scope: this website, koleinibarberstudio.com, including the privacy, terms and accessibility pages. It does not cover the third-party booking platform.
  • Prepared: 1 August 2026.
  • Method: self-review by the people who built the site, against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, using keyboard navigation, measured contrast ratios and browser accessibility tooling.
  • This statement will be updated when the site changes materially, or when an independent audit is carried out.
